Mumbai: So, there was this really awful thing that happened in Vile Parle East. Two thieves broke in and tied up an 85-year-old woman and her caretaker. They used tape to bind them and even covered their mouths. Can you believe they stole a gold chain worth ₹20 lakh? It all went down around 12:30 am on Sunday, and it was only discovered when the woman’s son came home to find the door wide open.
When he walked in, he found his mom and the caretaker all tied up and super scared. The police are on it, and they’ve opened a theft case. Apparently, the elderly woman lives with her son and the caretaker in a four-story building on Tejpal Singh Road. The son had gone out for a family gathering, and that’s when the thieves struck.
So, here’s how it went down: someone knocked on the door, and when the woman opened it, these two guys just barged in. They tied her and the caretaker up and used a cutter to snatch the gold chain right off her neck. Luckily, they didn’t hurt anyone and took off right after. It’s just so brazen!
When her son got back around 2 am, he found the door unlocked and rushed in. He saw his mom and the caretaker still tied up and in distress. He freed them and called the police, who came to check things out.
The police mentioned that the house didn’t have any CCTV cameras, which probably made it an easy target. It looks like the thieves had been watching the place for a while and knew the family’s routine. The elderly woman has been living with her son and caretaker for years, while her other child lives separately after getting married. Just a really sad situation all around.
