Mumbai: So, a sessions court just cleared a 33-year-old guy in the murder of his wife back in 2018. They pointed out a bunch of mistakes in the process, like how long it took to file the FIR.
The whole thing started when the mother of the victim, Lipi, reported that her daughter was killed after a fight with her husband, Bilal Shaikh. Apparently, he had a drinking problem and often got violent.
On that night, Lipi asked him not to turn on the light because her mom was sick. That set him off, and he started yelling and hitting her. By around 2:30 AM, Lipi was found unresponsive, and her mom rushed her to the hospital, but it was too late.
Bilal’s lawyer pointed out that the FIR was filed 18 hours after the incident, which raised a lot of eyebrows. The court agreed, noting that the initial reports didn’t even mention Bilal’s name or the details of the attack.
They also highlighted that the steps taken after the incident didn’t follow the proper order, which made everything look suspicious. Plus, the prosecution couldn’t prove why Bilal would want to kill Lipi in the first place.
In the end, the court decided to let him go, saying there just wasn’t enough evidence to hold him accountable. It’s a pretty wild case that leaves a lot of questions hanging.
