Mumbai: The Rekhta Foundation just kicked off its first-ever Rekhta Gujarati Utsav, and it was a blast! This event is all about celebrating Gujarati language, literature, and culture. They had some amazing performances and discussions that really brought the community together.
So, this festival took place in Mumbai after a successful run in Vadodara. It’s part of a series of events, with another one lined up in Bhavnagar soon. The Rekhta Foundation is already famous for its Urdu festivals, and now they’re diving into Gujarati, which is super exciting!
At the Mumbai event, they had some big names in attendance. Tushar Mehta, the Solicitor General of India, was the chief guest, and there were other notable figures like actress Sarita Joshi. It was a great mix of poetry and music, with talented poets sharing their work and singers performing folk songs.
Looking ahead, the Bhavnagar event promises to be just as thrilling, featuring more poets and a popular singer. Plus, the Rekhta Foundation is also working on digital platforms to help preserve and promote Gujarati culture, which is fantastic for the younger generation.
Sanjeev Saraf, the founder, shared how they started with Urdu and are now expanding to other languages. Tushar Mehta praised Mumbai as the heart of Gujarati literature, emphasizing the importance of making the language enjoyable for the new generation. It’s all about bridging that gap and keeping the culture alive!
