Mumbai: So, there’s this crazy situation with a former RPF constable named Chetan Singh Chaudhary. He’s the guy who shot four people on a train back in July 2023. Now, it turns out he’s been found mentally unstable.
The authorities at Akola prison, where he’s been held, have asked the court to move him to a mental hospital in Nagpur for treatment. They noticed something was off with him on December 19 and sent him to the district hospital. The doctors there confirmed he’s mentally unwell.
After that, the prison officials filed a request to shift him to the mental hospital. But here’s the twist: the prosecution doesn’t want him sent to Nagpur. They think it’d be better for him to go to a mental hospital in Thane instead, which would make it easier for court stuff.
On the flip side, the lawyers representing the victims are pushing back. They argue that the chargesheet shows he doesn’t have any mental health issues. They believe he’s fit and shouldn’t be treated as mentally unstable.
