Mumbai: So, there’s been a wild story coming out of Kandivali. The cyber crime cell just busted a gang that scammed a guy out of a whopping Rs 32 lakh. Can you believe it?
The police said this gang had four members, and they were up to no good. They were caught after the victim reported the scam. It all started when he got a call from someone pretending to be from TRAI. They told him there was a case against him in Delhi, and then they switched him to someone acting like a Deputy Commissioner of Police.
This fake cop really freaked him out, saying his online activities were being watched. He even warned him not to share any details. The next day, another call came in, this time from someone claiming to be a CBI officer. They told him he was “digitally arrested” and that he needed to pay up to avoid real trouble.
Feeling scared and confused, the guy transferred the money to avoid any legal issues. But thankfully, he got suspicious and went to the North Regional Cyber Police. They jumped into action, set a trap, and caught the gang red-handed.
Turns out, these guys were providing bank accounts for other cybercriminals to use. It’s a crazy world out there, and it’s good to see the police stepping in to tackle this kind of fraud!
