Hurghada: A mum named Samantha Perry had a terrifying experience while on holiday. She nearly lost her life in a quad bike accident, and her son Josh was her hero that day.

They were out riding quad bikes when Samantha fell, and the vehicle ended up on top of her. Josh, who’s an army vet, found her unconscious and had to act fast. It was a scary moment, and they felt abandoned as others just kept going.

When Josh saw his mum’s arm bleeding badly, he quickly used his scarf to stop the bleeding. Thankfully, a stranger helped them get to an ambulance. Doctors rushed Samantha into surgery, where they found she had a fractured eye socket and feared she might lose her arm.

Now, Josh has set up a GoFundMe to help cover the medical costs, which are piling up. Samantha is still in intensive care, and he’s desperate to bring her home. They didn’t have insurance, and Josh mentioned that even if they did, it might not cover quad bike accidents.

Josh, who lives in Birkenhead, Merseyside, shared how this trip was supposed to be a fun birthday getaway. He said it turned into a nightmare. He was just enjoying the ride when everything changed in an instant.

He looked back and saw his mum wasn’t on her bike anymore. Panic set in as he rushed back to find her trapped under the quad. It was a shocking sight, and he had to lift the bike off her. He took off her helmet, even though he wasn’t sure if he should have.

Josh described the gruesome scene, saying her arm was badly injured, and he could see the bone. It was a lot for anyone to handle, especially since his mum doesn’t even remember what happened. She just recalls having fun before waking up in the hospital.

He said if he hadn’t been there, she might not have made it. It felt surreal, like something out of a movie. They were on a group tour, but everyone else had left them behind. Luckily, his army training kicked in, and he knew what to do.

After surgery, doctors were worried about amputating her arm, but thankfully that didn’t happen. They had to put wires in her arm, and she’s struggling to talk or move. Josh has been by her side, helping her with everything.

He’s hoping the fundraiser will help get his mum home safely and cover the medical expenses. He said she feels trapped in a hospital where no one speaks her language. He plans to fly back soon to keep the fundraising going, while his nan stays with Samantha.

It’s been a tough time for them, and Josh is just trying to navigate through this nightmare. He never thought something like this could happen to his mum, especially on what was supposed to be a fun holiday.
