Mum returns home from shopping trip with daughter to find devastating scene

Liverpool: So, this mum, Deborah Jones, came back from shopping with her daughter and found her home completely wrecked. Her ex-boyfriend, Steven Raeside, had broken in and caused a ton of damage. It all went down on October 17 last year. Deborah and her daughter got home around 4:15 PM, only to find the front door wide open. The TV was smashed, and a bunch of Christmas presents were either broken or missing. It’s just heartbreaking.

When she checked her doorbell camera, she saw Raeside breaking in about half an hour earlier. They had just split up a week before this mess. He later claimed he was angry because he thought he’d been robbed by her daughter and her partner earlier that day. Talk about a wild excuse!

Raeside, who’s 51, admitted to trashing the place. He even cut up a coat that belonged to Deborah’s daughter’s boyfriend. In court, Deborah said he used to be her best friend, but now she feels totally lost. She was devastated to see all her Christmas gifts destroyed.

Raeside has a history of trouble, with past convictions for assault and drink driving. His lawyer said he felt guilty and ashamed for what he did. He’s been sober since last November and has been dealing with some serious mental health issues, including PTSD.

In the end, he pleaded guilty to burglary with intent to cause damage and got 16 months in jail. The judge made it clear that his actions had serious consequences for Deborah, who’s struggling to cope with everything that happened.
