Much-loved Horsforth Fish Shop Reopens Its Doors to the Community

Horsforth: When Sharon and Ady Atter retired last June, it felt like a big loss for the community when The Regent Chippy closed. They had been serving up fish and chips for 17 years, and everyone loved them. Remember how they helped out during lockdown? They were always there for local events too.

After they closed, finding a buyer who would keep the shop’s charm was tough. But guess what? Best friends Richard and Vicky have stepped up to take over and are ready to celebrate the chippy’s 100th year! Richard’s feeling a mix of excitement and nerves.

“It’s our first venture together,” he shared. “Vicky and I go way back, and when this opportunity popped up, we couldn’t pass it up. Sure, it’s a bit nerve-wracking, but we’re both friendly and ready to meet our customers.”

Local resident Andy was thrilled to be one of the first to visit. “It’s always been a great chippy, so seeing it close was sad. Hearing it’s reopening is fantastic!”

Richard and Vicky want everyone to know they’re keeping it traditional. “We’re sticking to classic fish and chips. No burgers or anything fancy,” Richard said. “We’ll use beef dripping for that authentic taste.” Plus, they’ll have gluten-free options available on request.

Here are the new opening hours for The Regent:
– Monday – closed
– Tuesday and Wednesday – 11:30 am to 7:30 pm
– Thursday to Saturday – 11:30 am to 8 pm
– Sunday – 12 pm to 6 pm
