Southampton: The Royal South Hants Hospital is now offering mpox vaccines. This is great news for those who are eligible.

The NHS has opened 12 new vaccination sites across England. This means more people can get the vaccine.

Previously, the vaccine was only available in London, Manchester, and Brighton. Now, it’s accessible to those at higher risk in every region.

Steve Russell from the NHS said it’s important for eligible people to get the vaccine easily. The risk to the public is low, but access is key.

Mpox, once called monkeypox, is rare and mostly found in central and east Africa. It’s good to know that vaccines are becoming more available.

Eligible individuals include men who have sex with men and have multiple partners. Staff at certain venues may also qualify for the vaccine.

First symptoms of mpox can include fever, headache, and muscle aches. A rash usually appears one to five days after these initial symptoms.
