Oxford: A motorcyclist was involved in a crash with a bus yesterday. The accident happened after midday at the junction of Abbey Road and Cripley Place.

Buses are currently on a diversion due to Thames Water’s work on a new water main. They are using a circular route along Abbey Road, Cripley Place, and Cripley Road.

Witness Julian Le Vay said the bus turned from Cripley Place into Abbey Road when the collision occurred. The motorcyclist, who lives nearby, suffered leg injuries but is recovering.

Oxford Bus Company confirmed one of their buses was involved. They noted the motorcyclist was traveling the wrong way on a one-way street.

The motorcyclist was taken to the hospital, but thankfully, no one else was hurt. The bus company is cooperating with police investigations.

After the bus diversion, part of Abbey Road became one-way. This change is part of ongoing work related to the £161m upgrade of Oxford station.

Rail minister Lord Hendy recently announced that Botley Road will remain closed until August 2026. This extension is due to delays in the station project.

Thames Valley Police has been asked for comments regarding the incident.
