South London: The mother of Louis De Zoysa is really worried about him. He’s in Belmarsh prison after killing custody sergeant Matt Ratana back in 2020.
She says he’s not doing well at all. He’s struggling to cope with everything. Elizabeth De Zoysa mentioned that she hasn’t heard from him in over a week.
When she last saw him, he looked rough. His clothes were torn, and he seemed unkempt. It’s clear she’s deeply concerned about his well-being.
Elizabeth described her son’s brain damage as “massive.” She’s worried that Belmarsh can’t provide the care he needs. He can communicate a bit, but it’s tough for him.
She believes he shouldn’t be in Belmarsh. He’s in a wheelchair and needs more support. He should be getting some kind of therapy or education to help him.
During his trial, his lawyers argued he was having an autistic meltdown when he shot Sgt Ratana. The Ministry of Justice has been asked for a comment on this situation.
