Greater Manchester: The Met Office has issued more weather warnings for snow, ice, and rain. It’s been a wild few days, and it looks like it’s not over yet.
On Sunday, the area was already blanketed in heavy snow, and two amber warnings were in effect. It all started on Saturday, and folks were definitely feeling the chill.
There was an amber snow and ice warning from Saturday evening until Sunday afternoon. Another warning was in place until late Sunday night, affecting northern parts of Greater Manchester and much of northern England.
Now, the Met Office has added a yellow warning for snow and ice starting at midnight on Monday. Plus, there’s a rain warning until early morning. It’s a bit of a mess out there!
The Environment Agency also issued alerts for potential flooding overnight, covering areas like Stockport, Sale, and Altrincham. So, it’s not just the snow we need to worry about.
People woke up to a snowy scene on Sunday, with roads closed and flights delayed at Manchester Airport. It was chaos, to say the least!
Woodhead Pass and Snake Pass were shut down, and rail operators warned against traveling. Even the airport had to close its runways due to the weather.
As for Monday, the Met Office warns of heavy rain and melting snow, which could lead to flooding. They say bus and train services might be affected, so plan ahead if you’re heading out.
There’s also a second yellow warning for snow and ice across Greater Manchester. They’re predicting more snow and icy patches, which could cause travel disruptions.
