MONTREAL: Early this morning, a synagogue in Dollard-des-Ormeaux was hit by a suspected arson. It’s pretty alarming, right?

Police got a 911 call just before 3 a.m. about a fire at Congregation Beth Tikvah. Firefighters quickly jumped in and put out the flames.

They found an incendiary device at the scene, which is definitely concerning. Witnesses even reported seeing someone leave the area right after the fire started.

Luckily, no one was hurt. But there was a smashed window and a damaged door at the nearby Federation CJA office, which is part of the Jewish community.

So far, no arrests have been made, and the police are still figuring out if this was a hate crime. It’s a tough situation.

This isn’t the first time this synagogue has faced trouble. Last year, it was targeted in another arson attempt, and B’nai Brith Canada is really upset about it, calling for accountability.

It’s a serious issue that needs attention, and we’ll have to see how things unfold.
