Rotherham: So, there was this wild police chase that went down recently. The South Yorkshire Police spotted a stolen Volkswagen Polo cruising around with some cloned plates. It was around 1:30 PM when they decided to take action.

They used a stinger, which is a device to deflate tires, to stop the car. The driver was really trying to get away, speeding and even overtaking cars on the wrong side of the road. Can you believe it? They hit speeds over 65 mph!

Officers were hiding out on Upper Wortley Road, and just as the driver zoomed past, they deployed the stinger. The chase didn’t last long, though. The driver crashed into a fence in a cul-de-sac and tried to run off but was caught just a few minutes later.

A guy in his 20s got arrested for a bunch of things, like dangerous driving and not having insurance. He’s been charged and is set to appear in court soon.

Temporary Roads Policing Inspector Brandon Brown commented on the situation, saying that those who drive without insurance often take bigger risks. He emphasized how important the stinger is for safely stopping pursuits and keeping the public safe.
