Accused Claims Missile Launcher and Firearms Were Scrap Metal
A man in Adelaide insists he believed stolen military items were just scrap metal
Adelaide, South Australia, Missile Launcher, Firearms, Andrew Lambert
Adelaide: A man named Andrew Lambert is in a bit of hot water after he was caught with some pretty serious stuff. He’s facing charges for allegedly stealing a missile launcher and a bunch of firearm parts. But here’s the kicker—he claims he thought they were just scrap metal.
Police found the empty missile launcher and a lot of firearm parts during a search at his home in South Plympton. They also discovered a military backpack that was reportedly stolen from another place. Talk about a wild find!
In court, Lambert, who’s 55, said he was under the impression that the missile launcher was just a piece of junk. He told the magistrate that police had mentioned it wasn’t even functional. He thought it was all from some army surplus store and figured it was just scrap.
The prosecutor wasn’t having it, though. She pointed out how dangerous the missile launcher is, saying it’s not something you come across every day. Lambert also mentioned he needed to care for his dog after losing his father recently, but the court decided to keep him in custody for now.
He’s set to appear again in January, and it looks like he’s got a lot to sort out before then. It’s a strange situation for sure, and it’ll be interesting to see how it all plays out.
