St. Paul: So, the Minnesota Department of Human Services wrapped up its investigation into a KinderCare in Rochester. This all started when a woman, Andrianna Newburn, was charged for injuring a 1-year-old with a pizza cutter.

The DHS report, released on January 15, cleared the facility itself. They found that Newburn was the one responsible for the incident. It all went down on June 13, 2024, during a heated argument in the kitchen. A staff member had to remind Newburn to think about the kids who were around.

Another staff member heard the commotion and saw Newburn trying to push open a door with the pizza cutter in hand. She even threatened to hurt the other staff member’s kids. Not long after, a different staff member noticed a 1-year-old with a significant cut on their cheek. That child was actually the staff member’s kid who had been arguing with Newburn.

The facility did an internal review and found that while their policies were fine, Newburn didn’t follow them. She’s no longer working there. As for Newburn, she’s facing five assault charges and one for making terroristic threats. Her pretrial hearing is set for February 11.
