Greenville: So, there was this wild scene at the Military Bowl. An official got a nasty cut on his face while trying to break up a brawl between players from NC State and East Carolina. It was pretty chaotic!
The fight broke out with just 38 seconds left in the game. It all started when NC State’s Tamarcus Cooley pushed ECU’s Yannick Smith. Next thing you know, both teams were on the field, and it turned into a full-on scuffle.
Things got so out of hand that the ref had to hand out unsportsmanlike conduct penalties to both teams. East Carolina ended up with three players ejected, while NC State had five sent off. Talk about a mess!
While the official was getting treated for his injury, the ref was busy reading off the names of the players who got tossed. It was a real circus out there!
Earlier in the game, ECU had taken the lead with a stunning 86-yard run by Rahjai Harris. But NC State had made a comeback, only to lose their chance at victory when CJ Bailey got intercepted right at the end.
In the end, East Carolina wrapped up their season with an 8-5 record, winning five of their last six games. Coach Blake Harrell, who stepped in after Mike Houston was let go, was named the permanent coach. NC State finished at 6-7.
