Cheshire: A middleman named Nathan Elliott has been sentenced for selling a stolen Cartier watch that belonged to the Duke of Westminster. He claimed he bought the watch for just £150 from a friend, but it was actually stolen.

The watch was taken during a burglary at the Duke’s Eaton Hall estate back in August 2022. Elliott sold it at an auction for a whopping £22,500. Talk about a markup!

In court, it was revealed that the burglar, Matthew Turner, was working as a decorator at the estate when he stole the watch. Along with the Cartier, two other valuable watches went missing and haven’t been found yet.

The Duke mentioned that these watches held a lot of sentimental value for him. The Cartier watch was recognized at an auction in Bath, where it was sold by Elliott and his partner, Kayleigh Gordon.

Thanks to a watch enthusiast who spotted it, the Duke was alerted about the sale. The judge didn’t hold back, telling Elliott he played a key role in the crime.

Alongside the watch case, Elliott also faced charges related to a cannabis conspiracy. He had just gotten out of prison for another offense when he jumped right back into the drug scene.

He was involved in a well-organized operation to distribute cannabis in the area. The judge handed him a total of 58 months in prison for both crimes. Quite the turn of events for Elliott!
