Atlanta: So, Michael Penix was just chilling in line at Costco, right? He was about to grab a hot dog when his phone buzzed. It was Zac Robinson, the offensive coordinator, telling him he’s starting this week. Talk about a surprise!

Penix was like, “I’ve got a lot of feelings,” but he didn’t really know what to make of it. He just knows he’s ready to hit the field. The Falcons decided to bench Kirk Cousins after some rough games, and now it’s Penix’s time to shine.

This guy was the No. 8 pick and has only played a couple of games this season, but he’s eager to show what he can do. He admitted he’ll be a bit nervous running out of that tunnel, but once he’s on the field, it’s game on. He’s flipping that switch!

On Wednesday, he got to work with the first-team offense for the first time, taking about 70 reps. He’s just focusing on being himself and not trying to be someone he’s not. He’s got to trust his prep and bring the team along with him.

And guess what? Cousins is totally in his corner. He called Penix the night before to show his support. Cousins said he’ll always be there to help out, no matter what. That’s what being in the quarterback room is all about!
