Chapel Hill: So, guess what? Bill Belichick is pulling in Michael Lombardi to join him at UNC as the General Manager. It’s like a reunion of sorts!
Lombardi, who’s been in the NFL scene for ages, was last seen working with VSiN. He’s got a solid background, having been with several NFL teams from 1984 to 2007.
He even had a stint as the G.M. for the Browns back in 2013. After that, he was part of the coaching staff in New England for a few years before heading back to media.
What’s cool is that Lombardi isn’t just an NFL guy; he’s got college experience too. He was the recruiting coordinator at UNLV in the early ’80s.
He’s not the only one making moves in college football. Recently, Stanford brought in Andrew Luck as their G.M. It’s a trend!
Lombardi and Belichick even did a podcast together this season. Lombardi mentioned that Belichick is really serious about this college jump, especially since he thinks a lot of NFL teams are a bit of a mess.
He even took a jab at some NFL execs, hinting that some teams are run by owners’ kids who don’t really know what they’re doing.
And who knows? Belichick might bring in some of his old crew, like Matt Patricia and Joe Judge, to help out at UNC.
