Westminster: So, there’s been a pretty alarming incident at a bar in the parliamentary estate. The police are on it, investigating claims that a woman’s drink was spiked.

This woman, who’s said to be a parliamentary researcher, reported the incident at Strangers’ Bar. It all went down on January 7 around 6:30 PM, according to reports.

The UK Parliament has acknowledged the situation, saying they’re aware of the incident and that it’s now in the hands of the Metropolitan Police.

From what I hear, the woman is getting support from the Parliament, which is good to know. The FDA union, representing civil servants, has called this whole thing “deeply concerning.” They’re pushing for the authorities to step up and make sure this doesn’t happen again.

Mike Clancy from the Prospect trade union also chimed in, expressing worry about the safety of parliamentary staff. He mentioned that they’ll be looking for more details on this case.

Interestingly, back in November, the head of Parliament’s complaints watchdog admitted she wasn’t sure if the Palace of Westminster was a safe place for women. That’s a pretty big red flag.

The police have confirmed they’re investigating the spiking report and are supporting the victim. So far, no arrests have been made, but they’re urging anyone who might have experienced or witnessed something similar to reach out.
