The Met Office provides a detailed forecast after severe weather warnings impacted travel and daily life

Merseyside, UK, Snow, Ice, Weather Warnings

Merseyside: A layer of frozen snow has caused disruption across much of the region. It all started last weekend when an amber warning was issued for heavy snowfall and icy conditions. Since then, travel has been a real headache, affecting roads, trains, and even flights.

Schools had to close due to unsafe ice, and temperatures dropped below freezing, hitting a chilly -3°C last night. The Met Office says we can expect more cold weather, with “freezing fog” hanging around for some areas. But don’t worry, most folks will get to enjoy some crisp winter sunshine, even if it stays frosty. The highest temperature today is just 2°C.

Looking ahead, the freezing fog and low clouds should clear up a bit by Sunday, giving way to some sunny spells. Monday will be windier with rain, but it’ll lighten up by Tuesday. Then, we can expect things to warm up gradually.
