Met Inspector Involved in WhatsApp Chat with Sexist and Racist Messages
A misconduct hearing reveals shocking messages shared by a Met inspector, raising serious concerns about police conduct and accountability

London: So, there’s this big scandal going on with a Met Police inspector, Charles Ehikioya. He’s been caught up in a WhatsApp group that shared some really awful messages. We’re talking about jokes that are not just inappropriate but downright offensive, including stuff about a girl with Down’s syndrome and even mocking Prince Philip’s car crash.
Ehikioya was in a chat with a former officer, Carlo Francisco, who got in trouble for similar reasons. They shared all sorts of graphic and racist content, including a video that was just plain disturbing. It’s hard to believe that these kinds of messages were flying around in a police group.
Now, if the allegations are proven true, he could lose his job. The hearing is looking into messages sent between 2017 and 2020, and some of them are really violent. It’s a serious situation, and it’s making people question whether these officers can do their jobs fairly, especially when it comes to women.
Ehikioya is denying everything, claiming the messages were either made up or wrongly linked to him because of his race. But the evidence seems pretty damning. The hearing is set to continue until January 10, and he’s on restricted duties for now.
It all started when a female officer complained about Francisco back in December 2020, leading to a deeper investigation. It’s just shocking to think that this kind of behavior was happening within the police force.
