Toronto: So, it looks like southern Ontario is getting a little break from the cold. This Sunday and Monday, we’ll see some milder temperatures, which is a nice change from all that snow.

But hold on! Those slick roads are still going to be a problem through Sunday. If you’re out and about, just be careful.

And guess what? Monday morning could be a real mess. Some areas, especially in the northern GTA and cottage country, might face some tricky weather.

With warm air moving in, there’s a chance of freezing rain starting the week. So, if you’re commuting, expect some slow and slippery roads.

This warm air is coming from a system that’s mixing air from Alberta and Texas. It’s going to bring some rain and possibly freezing rain over the Great Lakes.

There’s still some uncertainty about how warm it will get, which is raising alarms about freezing rain, particularly in the northern GTA and eastern Ontario.

Before the freezing rain hits, a few centimeters of snow might fall, especially in cottage country. So, Monday morning could be a bit of a nightmare for drivers.

In the northern GTA, ice could build up during the morning commute and stick around until early afternoon before changing to rain.

Central Ontario and the Nickel Belt might see icing continue into the evening, and Ottawa could get 3-5 cm of snow before the freezing rain arrives overnight.

Looking ahead, another system from the U.S. Midwest is expected to bring widespread rain on Tuesday night, with some areas possibly seeing snow as a cold front moves in.

Then, a strong cold front will sweep through on Wednesday, bringing in some Arctic air and likely triggering more lake-effect snow by Wednesday night.

But don’t worry too much! Warmer weather is on the way for the weekend, and it looks like that pattern will stick around into mid-December. Just keep an eye out for a potential cold snap later in December and early January.
