Los Angeles: So, Thomas Markle, Meghan’s dad, is saying he feels like he’s in the same boat as King Charles. Can you believe it? He hasn’t seen Meghan since before her wedding to Prince Harry back in 2018.
He was supposed to be at the royal wedding but ended up not going because he got caught staging some paparazzi photos. That really put a strain on their relationship, and it didn’t help when parts of a personal letter from Meghan to him got leaked.
Even though Meghan isn’t a working royal anymore and lives in the U.S., it seems like their relationship hasn’t improved. Before he turned 80 last July, Thomas mentioned to the Daily Mail that he’d love to hear from Meghan and see his grandkids, Archie and Lilibet.
He’s never met them, which is pretty sad. He said he feels like he’s in the same situation as King Charles, who also doesn’t have a close relationship with his grandkids.
Thomas told the Daily Mail, “I’ve never been one for birthdays, but I know the one person I most want to hear from, Meghan, won’t be in touch. I would love to meet my grandchildren, but I would be happy with a photograph at this stage.”
He added, “They have two grandpas who want to see them, one of whom is the King of England. I never in my 80 years thought I’d be in the same boat as the King.”
As for King Charles, he’s still in touch with Harry and Meghan, but it sounds like they don’t see each other much. The last time he saw Harry was in February last year after his cancer diagnosis, and it’s unclear when he last saw the kids, though he does talk to them on the phone.
