Kirkwall: Stuart first flew with Loganair in 1972. He was a passenger on the Islander with Captain Jamie Baillie. That flight inspired his love for aviation.

After that, he became a pilot, flying locals and tourists to the Orkney Islands for over 25 years. His journey with Loganair has been remarkable.

Loganair is celebrating its 63rd year and recognizes Stuart as a key team member. He has been with the airline for more than half of its history.

Stuart started his aviation career in the 1980s as a first officer on the Shorts 360. He recalls those early days fondly, noting how the aircraft was essential for connecting Scotland.

He believes flying is still about passion. That love for flying has kept him at Loganair for so long. His story is about professional success and personal dedication.

Stuart emphasizes the importance of air services for island communities. These services face tough weather and logistics but are vital for residents.

Now a training captain in Kirkwall, he enjoys mentoring new pilots. He finds it rewarding to teach essential flying skills that are still relevant today.

Stuart recently discovered he has the longest tenure at Loganair. He’s proud of his 37 years and plans to continue flying for years to come.
