Cheltenham: McDonald’s has confirmed plans for a third restaurant in town. This new spot will be at the old TGI Fridays location on Gloucester Road.

The fast-food chain says this restaurant will create many jobs. It will also make it easier for people in south and west Cheltenham to grab their favorite meals.

Currently, fans in areas like Leckhampton and Hatherley have to travel far for a Big Mac. The new restaurant will be on the busy A40, near GCHQ, making it more accessible.

A McDonald’s spokesperson shared their excitement about opening this summer. They expect to bring significant investment and up to 120 jobs to the area.

Planning permission has already been granted to change the former TGI Fridays into a flexible restaurant or takeaway. McDonald’s is also applying for some building updates, including a new color scheme.

The TGI Fridays closed last October, part of a larger trend affecting many locations. However, McDonald’s taking over this site isn’t part of a plan to acquire other closed TGI Fridays.
