Philadelphia: So, it looks like Jared McCain’s rookie season just hit a major bump. After 23 games, he’s been diagnosed with a left lateral meniscus tear. Ouch! The Sixers announced this after he had an MRI following some knee soreness after their game against the Pacers.
He took a nasty fall during the game, hitting his head hard on the floor. They checked him for a concussion, but thankfully, he was cleared to play. However, this meniscus tear means he’s going to be out for a while, and he’ll need surgery.
It’s been a tough season for the Sixers, who started with high hopes of contending for a championship but now sit at 7-16. Joel Embiid also suffered a sinus fracture in that same game, adding to the team’s woes.
Before this injury, McCain was a bright spot for the team. He had been scoring like crazy, averaging over 26 points in a seven-game stretch last month. He even earned the Eastern Conference Rookie of the Month award. It’s a real shame to see him sidelined now.
McCain has such a positive vibe, too. He once said he loves to smile and have fun with life, which is refreshing. He knows basketball is serious, but he believes it should also be enjoyable. It’s a bummer that he won’t be able to bring that joy to the court for a while.
With McCain out, the Sixers are really feeling the pinch. They’ve had a rough time with injuries this season, and it’s clear they need to find a way to turn things around.
