Maybole: The Beat the Street game is coming to town, and it sounds like a blast! Residents can earn prizes just by walking, cycling, or wheeling around. How cool is that?

This fun initiative was created by Dr. William Bird, who really knows how to make exercise enjoyable. It’s all about getting people to explore their neighborhoods while staying active.

So far, over 1.8 million people have joined in across 168 locations in the UK, with 22 of those being in Scotland. That’s a lot of folks getting fit!

Last spring, the game was a hit in South Ayrshire, where more than 12,000 people signed up and racked up an impressive 113,277 miles in just six weeks. Talk about motivation!

The game is open to everyone, young and old, and will run for four weeks starting February 12. Kids will get a card and map from their schools, while adults can grab a free card from local spots.

If you’re over 13, you can even download the Beat the Street app to join in on the fun right from your phone. How convenient is that?

Players can form teams with schools, communities, or workplaces, and there are prizes for the teams that travel the farthest. It’s all about friendly competition!

Councillor Bob Pollock is excited about bringing this initiative to Carrick. He’s seen how it positively impacts other communities and can’t wait for Maybole to experience it too.

He mentioned that the competitive spirit really gets everyone moving and enjoying the beautiful parks and open spaces around. Plus, who doesn’t love winning prizes for being active?
