Dundonald: So, there’s this puppy named Max who’s in a bit of a pickle. He was found abandoned back in December and now the council is saying he might be put down. The USPCA is stepping in, planning to take legal action against the council for how they’re handling things.

The council initially thought Max was a ‘pit-bull type’ breed, which is a big deal because that breed is banned in Northern Ireland. But here’s the twist: some experts say he’s actually a French Bulldog/staff cross and poses no danger at all.

Max has been stuck in kennels since he was found, and folks are really worried about him. They thought an independent assessment would help, but the council didn’t accept the USPCA’s offer for that. Now, they’re saying Max could be put down any day.

Local MLA Robbie Butler is really pushing for the council to work with the USPCA. He’s a dog owner himself and gets how much joy dogs bring to our lives. He’s been vocal about how Max hasn’t shown any dangerous behavior and believes the council should reconsider their stance.

Butler mentioned that there’s a chance for the council to take a different route, especially since they’ve been trying to find Max’s owner. He’s reached out to the council to see if they can work something out that might save Max.

The council has said they’re aware of the public concern and are looking into it. They’ve had nearly 13,000 people sign a petition for Max, showing just how much the community cares. It’s a tough situation, and everyone’s hoping for a happy ending for this little pup.
