London: So, guess what? There’s this cool interactive map that shows off the best primary schools in London. It highlights 42 schools where every kid hit the expected standards in their SATs. Pretty impressive, right?
Now, when we talk about what makes a school good, it’s not just about the grades. Sure, test scores matter, but things like how happy the kids are and the quality of the facilities play a big role too. But hey, looking at how many students meet the expected standards is a solid way to gauge a school’s performance.
For Key Stage 2, scores range from 80 to 120. If a student scores 100 or more, they’ve met the expected standard. Right now, about 61% of primary schools in England are hitting those marks in reading, writing, and maths. That’s a slight bump from last year!
Interestingly, around 8% of kids are scoring even higher than the expected standard, which is the same as last year but a bit better than 2022. But some schools are really knocking it out of the park.
Last year, nearly 300 schools in England had at least 90% of their students meeting the expected standards. Among them, 41 schools had every single pupil achieving expected progress. The East Midlands is leading with 14 schools where all students met the standards.
One standout is The Minster School in Nottinghamshire, where every student not only met but 57% exceeded the expected standards. That’s the highest in England! If you’re curious, check out the interactive map for the top SATs schools in London for 2023.
