Belfast: Police are looking into a racist graffiti incident in West Belfast. A resident found paint thrown on his wall and a racist word written on it.

The damage likely happened between Sunday afternoon and Monday morning. Neighbourhood Policing Inspector Jackson confirmed they are treating it as a hate crime.

Police are asking anyone with information or footage to call them. They want to ensure everyone feels safe in their homes.

Sinn Féin councillor Ciaran Beattie spoke out against the attack. He said it doesn’t represent the Beechmount community.

Beattie reached out to the homeowner, offering support. He also contacted the council to remove the graffiti quickly.

He emphasized that Beechmount is an inclusive community and will not let a few individuals change that.
