Bridlington, Hull, Andrew Broadbent, Harassment, Threats

Bridlington: A guy named Andrew Broadbent really stirred up trouble. He was loud and aggressive, threatening to smash windows and even kill someone just because he wanted a bank card for cash.

In court, it came out that Broadbent, 53, had been making life miserable for a woman too. He bombarded her with nasty emails, making her feel like she was living in “absolute hell.”

On March 11 last year, he called a man he knew, demanding money. When the guy refused, Broadbent just kept calling back, getting more and more aggressive. He even threatened to come over and cause damage, but the man didn’t think he’d actually do it. His wife ended up calling the police.

Things got worse when Broadbent showed up at a woman’s house. She wouldn’t let him in, so he started sending her a bunch of abusive emails, saying he was short on cash. He even threatened her partner and claimed he was ready for a “war.”

She later said his behavior had made her life a nightmare for a whole month. Broadbent has a long history of violence, with 24 previous convictions, mostly for violent acts.

His lawyer mentioned that Broadbent had been in custody for about eight months and felt really sorry for his actions. The judge acknowledged that while Broadbent’s behavior was serious, no actual violence occurred.

In the end, he got an 18-month community order and 25 days of rehabilitation. He walked out of court just a few hours after being sentenced.
