Newport: A man named Ian Probert is on the run after a serious crash on January 13. This incident left an elderly woman and her dog trapped under a car in the Malpas area.
The crash happened early in the morning, around 6:30 AM. The driver of a silver Volkswagen Passat took off, not realizing how badly they had hurt the woman.
Emergency services arrived quickly after a local called 999. The situation was serious enough that they brought in the Welsh Ambulance Service, the fire department, and even a police helicopter.
Rowan Way was closed for hours while police gathered evidence. They went door-to-door asking residents for any CCTV footage or witnesses to the crash.
People in the area were understandably shaken, especially after hearing the crash and the woman’s screams. Thankfully, she’s now in stable condition at the hospital, but her injuries were life-threatening.
As for her dog, it received veterinary care and is recovering well. Crimestoppers is offering a reward of up to £1,000 for information leading to Probert’s whereabouts.
