Dagenham: A man is in trouble with the local council over noisy dogs. This all started when the council got complaints about barking dogs from a house.
On February 9, council officers checked out the noise at a property on Cornwallis Road. They heard loud barking and decided to issue a notice to Mr. Syed Uzeir Iqbal, telling him to fix the noise issue.
Later, they found out the property was being used for security K9 dog units. More complaints came in about the noise, and on June 13, 2024, a council officer saw the noise was still a problem.
A £150 Fixed Penalty Notice was issued, giving Mr. Iqbal 14 days to pay. But even after a reminder on July 2, 2024, he didn’t pay the fine.
The council then sent a final notice on September 25, 2024, but still got no payment. So, they withdrew the penalty notice and took him to court for not stopping the noise.
The case was heard at Barkingside Magistrates Court on January 28, 2025. Mr. Iqbal didn’t show up, and the court found him guilty. He was ordered to pay a total of £1,923.74, including fines and costs.
Councillor Syed Ghani said excessive noise affects residents’ quality of life, and they take these complaints seriously.
