Bangor: A 40-year-old man named Gethin Jones has been sentenced for a shocking crime. He assaulted a woman in the street during the day, which is just terrifying.
Jones, from Garth Road, faced the music at Caernarfon Crown Court after admitting to the charges. The incident happened on December 18th when he approached a woman he didn’t know.
He wrapped his arms around her shoulders and tried to pull her into an alley. He started making sexual comments, which understandably made her feel unsafe. She tried to get away, but he kept following her, commenting on her tattoos and trying to touch her.
Luckily, the woman spotted a group of people nearby and ran to them, which scared Jones off. He ended up getting an 18-month jail sentence and a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
Acting District Inspector Andrew Davies emphasized the importance of tackling violence against women. He praised the victim for her bravery during such a frightening experience.
He also mentioned that this incident would likely have a lasting effect on her sense of safety. The order will help ensure that Jones can’t approach or harass women in the future.
