Oldham: A man got seriously hurt after a shooting incident. It all went down on Shaw Road around lunchtime today. The poor guy was shot and rushed to the hospital, where he’s still being treated.

According to the police, a guy on a motorbike started firing shots at some men getting out of a taxi before speeding off. There’s a heavy police presence in the area, with several cordons set up while they investigate.

An air ambulance even landed nearby, and armed police were spotted at the scene. Earlier today, officers were called to Shaw Road in Royton, so it’s been quite a busy day for them.

Social media is buzzing with pictures showing the street blocked off near a petrol station. The air ambulance was also seen landing on a field close to Salmon Fields.

Police have cordoned off several spots, including the junctions of Shaw Road with Shaw Street and Mortimer Street, as well as Bower Street and Gold Street.

Superintendent Phil Hutchinson from Greater Manchester Police reassured locals that the heavy police presence is just part of their investigation. He emphasized that incidents like this are rare, even though they can be shocking.

He mentioned that they’ve seized a record number of firearms recently, and while this incident is serious, it’s not something that happens often in the area.

Officers are talking to witnesses and locals, but they’re also encouraging anyone with information to reach out. If you know anything, you can call them at 101 and mention log 1281 from today, or contact Crimestoppers anonymously.
