Smethwick: A guy named Mohammad Khan just got a hefty sentence for some wild behavior. He fired a submachine gun on the street and then took off in a Rolls Royce. Crazy, right?
This all went down at 4 AM on September 6, 2023. Khan and his crew showed up after a dispute, and someone handed him a Skorpion gun. These things can shoot like crazy—up to 800 rounds a minute!
Luckily, no one got hurt, but he did manage to damage a house and a parked car. After the shooting, they all jumped into a hired Rolls Royce. But the West Midlands Police were on it and tracked them down pretty quickly.
Khan was arrested and charged with having a firearm with intent to endanger life. He faced trial at Wolverhampton Crown Court and ended up with a sentence of 15 years and six months. That’s a long time!
These Skorpion guns have a bit of a history, too. They were first made in Czechoslovakia back in the ’50s and have been linked to some serious groups over the years.
The police are really cracking down on gun crime. They’re determined to get all the guns off the streets and put away anyone who thinks they can use or supply them. They’ve been busy with Operation Target, which is all about tackling serious crime.
