Cairns: It’s a sad day in Far North Queensland. A man lost his life after a jet ski crashed into some mangroves. The accident also left a woman fighting for her life.

According to the Queensland Police, the crash happened while they were riding along the Barron River. It was around 10:30 am when things took a tragic turn.

The man, who was 56, and the woman, aged 60, were thrown off the jet ski when it hit the mangroves just north of the Barron River Boat Ramp.

Paramedics rushed to the scene, but sadly, the man had severe injuries to his head and chest and was pronounced dead right there.

The woman was quickly taken to Cairns Hospital in critical condition. Thankfully, she’s now stable, but she suffered serious injuries to her shoulder and chest.

Police are looking into what happened and will prepare a report for the coroner. Meanwhile, the boat ramp is closed, and locals are being asked to steer clear of the area.
