London: A man has been charged with the murder of a London Underground worker. This happened after a serious incident in east London earlier this month.
Ayodele Jamgbadi, who is 28, faces charges of murder and affray. This follows the attack on Jorge Ortega, a 61-year-old assistant, on December 4.
Initially, Jamgbadi was charged with grievous bodily harm, but those charges were updated on Tuesday. He lives on Kingston Road in Ilford and will appear in court on January 7.
Ortega was a member of the RMT union and worked as a customer experience assistant for MTREL, the company that operates the Elizabeth Line.
After the attack, he was rushed to the hospital with severe head injuries but sadly passed away. His family described him as a loving and kind person.
Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer called the incident “absolutely tragic” in a post on X. This is a developing story, so stay tuned for more updates.
