Sydney: A man is in hot water after a shooting incident that left another man dead. Romeo Shoker, 35, is facing some serious charges and will spend New Year’s behind bars.
He showed up in Parramatta Local Court recently, linked to the shooting of David Khou, who was just sitting in his car when it happened. It’s a tragic situation.
Police got the call about the shooting on Sutherland St in Canley Heights. Sadly, Khou, 31, didn’t make it, despite the efforts of paramedics.
Authorities believe Khou had ties to Asian organised crime, which adds another layer to this already grim story. Shoker was nabbed by police after a vehicle stop not long after the incident.
He’s been charged with being an accessory to murder and not disclosing the identity of the driver. His lawyer didn’t even try to get him released on New Year’s Eve.
Shoker will be back in court in February, and it looks like he’ll have a private lawyer representing him this time. The police claim he helped the shooter after the fact, which is pretty serious.
After the shooting, an abandoned car was found on fire nearby, and police think it’s connected to the case. They’re really digging into this one, executing search warrants and all.
Detectives say the shooting was brazen, happening right outside a family home. It’s a shocking event for the community, and the family of the victim is understandably devastated.
