Launceston: So, there was this pretty serious incident recently. A man got charged with a bunch of driving offences after a hit-and-run that involved an eight-year-old girl and a horse. Sadly, the horse had to be put down, which is just heartbreaking.
The guy, Christopher Rogers, who’s 61 and from Bolventor, is in a bit of trouble. He’s facing charges for driving without care, being disqualified, and not having insurance. Plus, he didn’t stop after the accident, which is just not cool.
He’s out on bail for now and has to show up in court on February 7. The police got called to the scene in Altarnun around 2:20 PM on a Sunday. The girl was riding the horse when the collision happened, and she got airlifted to the hospital because her injuries looked pretty serious at first.
Luckily, the 12-year-old who was leading the horse didn’t get hurt. The good news is that the girl has since been discharged from the hospital, and her injuries weren’t as bad as they thought. Still, it’s a tough situation for everyone involved.
If anyone saw what happened or has dashcam footage, the police are asking you to reach out to them. They want to get to the bottom of this, so every little bit helps.
