Prosecutors reveal details about the suspect and the tragic incident
Park Forest, Illinois, Coleman Franklin, Lillian Brown, Sabrina McCain, Homicide
Park Forest: A tragic double homicide has shaken the community. Coleman Franklin, 50, is charged with killing Lillian Brown, 51, and Sabrina McCain, 30. He was living with them and had a relationship with Brown.
Franklin was arrested after police found the two women shot in their home. Brown died at the scene, while McCain was pronounced dead later at the hospital. The police also found McCain’s two young children unharmed.
Before the incident, Franklin had expressed concerns about his living situation. He felt it was unfair that McCain wanted him to pay rent. He even told his aunt that he thought McCain was trying to break up his relationship with Brown.
On the day of the shooting, Franklin called his aunt from a train station, denying any involvement. He claimed that McCain’s son would lie about him. His aunt, worried, called the police, leading to his arrest.
A friend of the victims revealed that McCain had previously said Franklin threatened them with a gun. She felt unsafe and had warned him that she would call the police if he acted violently again.
According to prosecutors, McCain’s 9-year-old son witnessed the shooting. He heard the gunshots and saw Franklin standing over his mother. The boy called 911, stating that Franklin was the only one with a weapon.
Franklin later tried to shift the blame, claiming that Brown’s husband was responsible. However, that man denied any involvement and said he hadn’t seen Brown in months.
This heartbreaking case has left many in Park Forest in shock, as they grapple with the loss of two lives and the impact on the children involved.
