CALGARY: So, there was this really awful incident in Calgary on Boxing Day. A high-speed crash led to the death of a 9-year-old girl and left another child in critical condition. It’s just heartbreaking.

The police are looking into whether drugs played a role in the crash. They mentioned that speed and impairment are key factors they’re investigating. It all started when they got a call about a robbery at a pharmacy.

The suspect allegedly assaulted a pharmacist and took off in a stolen car. The police tried to chase him, but it got too dangerous, so they switched to using a helicopter to keep an eye on him.

As he sped through intersections, he ran a red light and crashed into two other cars. It was a total mess, and the impact sent those vehicles crashing into two more trucks.

Sadly, one of the kids in the Pontiac Vibe didn’t make it, and the other child is still in critical condition. The woman driving the Vibe is stable now, but it’s just a tragic situation all around.

The driver of the stolen car, a 30-year-old named Duane Arlen John Nepoose, has been arrested and is facing 11 charges, including robbery and dangerous driving causing death. He’s in custody, waiting for his court date.

It’s just so sad to think about the families affected by this. The police are doing their best to figure out what happened, and it’s a tough time for everyone involved.
