Sydney: So, there was this wild police chase that went down in Sydney’s southwest. It all started with reports of a home invasion early Tuesday morning. Two guys tried to break into a house but ended up fleeing in a Hyundai.
Things got crazy when the cops spotted the car. They tried to chase it, but the guys inside allegedly fired shots at the police. Yikes! The pursuit was called off for safety reasons.
Eventually, the police used road spikes to stop the car on St Andrews Road. They managed to arrest one of the guys, a 20-year-old named Faez Finau, but the other guy took off on foot and is still on the run.
Finau is facing some serious charges, including armed break and enter and possessing illegal firearms. He didn’t even ask for bail, so he’s stuck in custody for now.
Police found a bunch of weapons in the car, including two pistols and an assault rifle. Thankfully, no officers were hurt during the whole ordeal, but it definitely shook things up.
NSW Premier Chris Minns praised the police for their bravery, saying it’s a reminder of how dangerous their job can be. He mentioned one officer was eager to get back to work the next day, which shows their dedication.
