A man in Cwmbran attacked his neighbor’s boyfriend with a knife during a parking argument, leading to serious injuries and court proceedings

Cwmbran: So, there was this wild incident where a guy named Dan Haines got into a heated argument with his neighbor’s boyfriend over parking. It escalated quickly, and before you know it, he walked out with a knife and attacked the guy. This all went down in broad daylight, which is just crazy.
The prosecutor, Mike Williams, shared that the whole thing happened on June 21 in West Roedin. Apparently, Haines, who’s 61, made some threats before he went for it. The victim ended up with cuts on his chin and thumb, which sounds pretty painful.
Haines’ lawyer, Ross Williams, mentioned there was some back and forth about how exactly the injuries happened, but it was clear that Haines left his house with a knife. The police showed up after someone called 999 and took the weapon away.
In court, Haines admitted to assault and having a knife in public. He looked pretty remorseful as they read the victim’s statement. The victim said he’s been feeling really anxious about going out since the attack, especially since it happened in broad daylight. He’s worried about what Haines might do next.
The victim was visiting his partner when the attack happened, but they’ve since broken up. He thinks the whole situation played a part in their split, even if it wasn’t the main reason. He mentioned that the injury has made it tough for him to do his job in electronics, especially with the bandage on his thumb.
Haines has a past conviction from way back in 1983. His lawyer pointed out that using a knife made the situation worse and asked for a report on Haines’ mental health. The judge decided to postpone sentencing until January 23, so we’ll have to wait and see what happens next.
