Man Arrested After Dungannon House Fire Leaves Two Women Critical

A man is in custody after a house fire in Dungannon left two women critical and two children stable in the hospital

Dungannon: A house fire on Monday night has left two women in critical condition. Two children, aged 7 and 10, are stable.

A man, 21, was arrested for arson with intent to endanger life. The fire broke out around 8:30 PM on Cunninghams Lane.

Police were alerted by the fire service about children trapped inside. Officers arrived quickly and rescued four people using ladders from nearby homes.

The fire service extinguished the blaze, which caused significant damage. The two women, aged 37 and 70, remain in critical condition.

The man on the roof was arrested and is still in custody. Eight police officers were treated for smoke inhalation but have since been released.

Superintendent Peter Stevenson praised the officers’ actions and expressed concern for those in the hospital.

The community is thanked for their support during this traumatic event. Emergency services will remain in the area as the investigation continues.
