A man from Wigan has been arrested amid ongoing investigations into last year’s violent disorder in Southport, Merseyside

Southport: A man from Wigan has been taken into custody after some serious trouble in Southport last year. It all kicked off on July 30, 2024, when chaos erupted on the streets, leading to over 160 arrests.

This 35-year-old guy is now under suspicion for violent disorder. He’s been interviewed and released on bail while the investigation continues. So far, 167 people have been arrested, with 125 facing charges.

In total, 99 individuals have been sentenced to a whopping 198 years and four months behind bars. Detective Inspector Paula Jones mentioned that this latest arrest shows they’re serious about tracking down everyone involved in the mess.

She emphasized that the disgraceful actions of those involved won’t be tolerated in Merseyside. The police are keen to hold everyone accountable, even those who traveled to join in the chaos.
