Somerset: The A303 is going to be closed for a bit while they do some important resurfacing work. This closure will last until next month, affecting a two-mile stretch between Newtown and Stopgate Cross.
Starting tonight, there will be weeknight closures from 8 PM to 6 AM until January 24. Then, the road will be closed all weekend until January 27. So, if you’re planning to drive that way, keep that in mind!
There’s also another closure coming up from January 31 at 8 PM until February 3 at 6 AM. If you’re heading east, you’ll need to take a detour via the A30 and Stooper’s Hill to get back on the A303 north of Newtown.
For those going west, the detour will be the opposite. It’s a good idea to plan your trips ahead of time to avoid any hassle.
National Highways has mentioned that you can find more details about the closures and detours on their website. Plus, for real-time travel updates, check out their Twitter feed or give them a call at 0300 123 5000.
