Santa Clara: The 49ers had a rough night against the Lions. They were hoping to play spoiler, but the Lions are a tough team this season.
Coach Shanahan kept things steady, saying they’d play hard despite being out of playoff contention. He thought the guys gave it their all, but mistakes were everywhere.
In the end, they lost 40-34, and it was the same old story. They just couldn’t get it together when it mattered most.
Looking at the grades, the rushing offense was okay but not great. They only ran the ball 18 times, which isn’t enough. Purdy had some good moments but also threw two costly interceptions.
The defense struggled, especially against the Lions’ running back, who had a big game. The passing defense was also shaky, with Goff tearing them apart.
Special teams? Oof. Moody missed a couple of key kicks, which didn’t help their cause. Overall, it was a mixed bag, but mostly disappointing.
So, while they showed some fight, the 49ers just couldn’t pull it off. Another tough loss to swallow.
